Thematic Teams (ESPPA Thematic Networks)

Thematic Teams operating within the European Suicidology, Prevention & Postvention Association (ESPPA) constitute a flexible, expert-driven network of cooperation that enables the Association’s statutory objectives to be translated into concrete research, social, educational, and systemic actions.

These teams provide an interdisciplinary framework for collaboration, encompassing research and postvention initiatives, as well as thematic areas related to health care, social care, public policy, media, and social entrepreneurship, alongside initiatives dedicated to youth, older adults, women, men, and LGBTQI+ communities, among others. Through this structure, ESPPA integrates scientific knowledge, professional practice, and social sensitivity in response to suicide-related challenges across diverse populations and sectors.

Each Thematic Team operates under the substantive leadership of a Chair and Co-Chair, appointed by the ESPPA Board from among members of the Association or external experts. The overall coordination of all Thematic Teams is entrusted to the ESPPA Thematic Teams Coordinator, also appointed by the Board. This governance model ensures strategic coherence, accountability, and alignment with the Association’s mission, values, and statutory framework, while preserving the flexibility necessary for interdisciplinary and international collaboration.

Thematic Teams do not constitute statutory governing bodies of the Association but function as expert and operational structures supporting the implementation of ESPPA’s mission and activities.
