Hello, I am
PhD Anna Baran
Founder and President of EPSSA, a scientist affiliated with Linnaeus University in Kalmar–Växjö, Sweden, and Co-founder and Co-Chair of the Education and Training in Suicide Prevention Section at the International Association for Suicide Prevention (IASP). She co-leads major international research with Prof. Jacinta Hawgood (Griffith University, Australia) on integrating suicide prevention into higher education curricula, has led EU-funded ELLIPSE and ELLIPSE Postvention projects (Good Practice award), lectured internationally (including the University of Minnesota), co-authored Poland’s National Suicide Prevention Programme, and published in leading journals such as The Lancet Psychiatry, EClinicalMedicine, and CRISIS.

The educational mission of the European Suicidology, Prevention & Postvention Association (ESPPA) is to strengthen knowledge, competencies, and ethical standards in the field of suicide prevention and postvention across Europe and beyond.

The mission of EPSSA is to advance evidence-based suicide prevention and postvention through education, research, and international cooperation.
EPSSA works to strengthen competencies across sectors, reduce stigma, and support the development of effective policies and practices that protect life and promote mental health across Europe and beyond.

Postvention
The postvention mission of EPSSA focuses on supporting individuals, families, and communities affected by suicide through evidence-based, compassionate, and trauma-informed approaches.
EPSSA aims to reduce the long-term psychological, social, and educational consequences of suicide loss by advancing research, professional training, ethical guidelines, and international collaboration in postvention practice.
